Director Ranjith and superstar Mamooty join again to give a Superhit movie 'Paleri Manikyam'. The film 'Paleri Manikyam' is based on a novel written by T.P. Rajeevan. This novel has been serialised before in a Malayalam weekly. The novel's theme is based on a true story which impressed the director Ranjith.
Mamooty plays a role of an officer who handles a murder case which is 53 years old. It's about a girl named Manikyam who was raped and murdered brutally on the eleventh day after her marriage. The case was closed since there was no clue and no suspects were found. The incident happened in a place called 'Paleri' near Kozhikode.
Mythili plays the role of Manikyam and some other important roles are played by Shewatha Menon, Srinivasan, Siddque and Suresh Krishnan. Film is made under the banners of Varnachithra Big Screen and A.V.A productions.The film is produced by Maha Subair and A.V. Anoop. The film is expected to be released by the end of this year.

The Malayalam film 'Pazhasiraja', seeks to establish that Kerala's own Pazharaja was the first-ever patriot of the country who dared to oppose the Englishmen. Megastar Mammootty plays Pazhasiraja while Sarath Kumar plays his chief lieutenant in the film.
Director Hariharan faced a barrage of questions, foremost of them being who the first Indian freedom fighter was: whether it was Pulithevan or Pazhasiraja. A tactful Hariharan said that "We haven't set out to launch a debate on the matter. We have just made a film about a celebrated freedom fighter; that's all. So, the question of who was the 'first one' doesn't find place in the film or in its script!"

The movie is based on a novel as explained earlier. In the movie Mammootty is introduced as an officer who tries to solve a murder case that is almost 53 years old.The film is also very special as several new faces will be introduced in the movie and that too stage performers as the movie needs a particular slang which can only be done by stage performers.
